373.01     Sanitary Facilities

(a) In every dwelling structure used for rooming occupancy not less than one water closet, one lavatory and one bathtub or shower shall be supplied for each eight persons or fraction thereof residing within the structure, provided that in a structure where single rooms are let only to males, urinals may be substituted for not more than one-half the required number of water closets. In a structure where both sexes are accommodated, the water closets shall be separately calculated based on occupancy of each sex and shall be in rooms separated and marked for the use of each sex, except where not more than one water closet is required.

(b) The facilities required in this section shall be in addition to and separate and apart from any such facilities required within a dwelling unit.

373.02     Access and Egress; Accessibility of Sanitary Facilities

(a) Every room used for rooming occupancy shall be provided with a safe and unobstructed means of access and egress leading to open space at ground level.

(b) The sanitary facilities required in this Housing Code from rooming occupancies shall be accessible to all occupants using such facilities from a common room or hallway without passing through any room used for sleeping purposes.

373.03     Prohibition of Cooking and Cooking Facilities

No room used for rooming occupancy shall be used for cooking purposes or shall have any cooking facilities installed or maintained therein.
